Dr. Ravinder Singh, a medical graduate with a Ph.D. in Public
Health from Jawaharlal Nehru University, is currently leading
initiatives in mental health, disability, rehabilitation, and
assistive technologies at the Indian Council of Medical
Research (ICMR) in New Delhi. With over two decades of
research experience, Dr. Singh has played a pivotal role in
establishing key centers such as the National Centre for
Assistive Health Technology (NCAHT) and the Centre for
Advanced Research & Excellence in Disability and Assistive
Technology (CARE-DAT). He was instrumental in
development of the National List of Essential Assistive
Products (NLEAP) and spearheaded the world's largest assistive technology survey using
WHO's rapid Assistive Technology Assessment (rATA) tool.
Dr. Singh has received numerous accolades, including a United Nations Award for his work
on assistive technologies. He is an esteemed editor of various national and international
journals and serves on multiple ethics committees. He was awarded Membership of
National Academy of Medical Sciences. He was also awarded Distinguished Service Award
by Delhi Medical Association and Expert on Empowerment of PwD Award by International
Hospitality and Tourism Association. He is Faculty at Academy of Scientific and Industrial
Research (AcSIR). He has authored several policy briefs and chapters, and contributed
significantly to global reports, including UNICEF-WHO’s Global Report on Assistive
Technology (GReAT). Dr. Singh continues to advocate for the inclusion of assistive
technologies in India's health system through collaborations with the World Health
Organization and other international partners.
